Who We Are

WACA represents Washington's licensed and regulated cannabis and hemp businesses. WACA provides its members with general support and representation before regulatory agencies and the legislature.

As an association of hemp businesses and cannabis producers, processors and retailers who have gathered to promote the cannabis industry created by Initiative 502 as well as the burgeoning hemp industry following passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, our mission is to advocate on behalf of our member companies in the legislative, regulatory, legal and public policy arenas.

WACA is the oldest and best established trade association for cannabis and hemp businesses at the state and local level to the licensed cannabis industry.

We get things done.

WACA has a dedicated, professional team that provides the following:

• Effective, impactful lobbying of the legislature, Governors' office and regulatory agencies. 
• Local government relations' representation to improve the business climate across all jurisdictions. 
• A robust program to build member relationships with elected officials. We have convened hundreds of meetings with lawmakers as part of our advocacy. In addition, WACA and a contingent of members make an annual trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with Members of Congress and key agency leaders and staff.
• Dedicated communications and media relations staff focused on strengthening our government relations effort while also helping members establish their presence in their local community and shaping the public profile of the hemp and cannabis industries.
• Annual policy conferences with dedicated access to regulators, elected officials, and industry professionals to share information, answer questions and increase awareness of the hemp and cannabis industries. 
• Social events around the state providing members the opportunity to interact with each other and elected leaders.
